Hi All. Hope someone can help me with a problem with my KA (1997, 97'000 miles).

Basically, from time to time over the last couple of months I have noticed that when I depress the clutch pedal to change gear the engine revs a lot (as if I were pressing the accellerator when out of gear.)

This week starting monday morning, this same problem is happening every time I drive. Whenever I press the clutch to change gear or stop at traffic lights, the engine revs like mad.

Also, I was trying to resolve the problem and tryed going from stationary to moving using just clutch control. On a flat road, I managed to get up to 35mph by only changing up the gears and not touching the accelerator at all at any point.

This has started happening all the time after i topped up fluids etc on sunday (I did also top up the brake / clutch fluid). I am not sure whether this has affected things this time, but it hasnt in the past.

Does anyone have any idea what the problem is / how to resolve it?

If I need a new clutch or similar, it might make more sense to get a new car, although I cant really afford it.

any ideas / help would be much welcomed.

thanks

hi there the problem is the idle control valve it i9s a little silver motor on the manifold on the top of the engine, it is held on with two 8mm bolts and there is a plug on it with two wires on it, you dont have to go to a dealer to get this any parts place should get you one for around 40 quid.
