Hi

I bought a two year old Ford Focus 1.8 just two weeks ago and I already think there may be a problem with it! Sometimes when I go up a gear from 1st to 2nd or 2nd to 3rd the car seems to dip slightly in power before increasing in speed. Occasionally when I try to accelerate quickly in 1st or 2nd gear it doesn't always accelerate immediately then other times it does it okay.

My previous car (not a Ford) kept cutting out whilst driving and I had to get rid of it as I (and local garage) suspected the fuel pump was about to go. I'm already nervous about my new car as I now feel it may happen with this one!! I really hope I am wrong and just being really sensitive. Am I paranoid? What does anyone else think? Are fuel pumps covered by the Ford warranty?

i have the same problem with my ford focus mk2 1.6 ti-vct and i took it to a garage and they said it was the thermostat i got it replaced and now it runs sweet as a nut

Thanks for your reply. Thermostat? I didn't realise that a thermostat would cause those things to happen but I'll take your word for it.
