My 2001 Focus 16 auto it has covered 150,000 but runns like a dream but it has an annoying clucking or knocking sound from front end not all time I have changed trackrod ends, drop links, lower arms with bottom ball joints allso changed the shockers put new top mounts and bearings in and also the anti roll barr bushes.

I have had it up on ramps checked out all bolts couplings and checked for any wear in steering and drive system.

but it keeps knocking metalic sound as though a ball joint had gone now me stumped I am contimplating changing steering connecter rods but i cannot feel any wear in them. the sound comes on when you it rough land but if you run over uneaven ground nothing happens it dont do it if you it speed bumps but go up drop kerb and it happens in straight lines and when turning.

Any help gratefully recieved

Kind Regards

Alan

I do have some slack when when moving from end to end nowt side to side so me think pos its the shafts moving from left to right and visaversa I have found i seem to have replaced the drop links twice now in 14mths so think changing shafts.

Cheers Darrell appreciate it

Well darrell You was right

Took the plunge and ordered the shafts from my local motorist supply shop due tomorrow so decided to remove old ones give me head start

Yep took some getting off but has soon as i removed the hub and when to pull shaft out it fell out from cv joint so removed inner part on near side wow was that loose it rattled in my hand but it had wrecked the track rod end so ordered new ones again.

whent to remove driver side wow thought it was a short shaft but you ahve to remove it all including extention shaft new one for me.

put it together on work bench not has bad but doing one why not both :o was when i got estamate for parts.

But thank you darrell for help

Kind regards

Alan
