Hello,

I have a Ford Focus about 2 yrs old (November 2007) which has an 'Auto-Dimming' (internal) rearview mirror. I'm not sure if it working properly.

It has a lens (I {Bad Word: Moderated}ume a photo-electric device) on its lower front edge, and another at the back. I {Bad Word: Moderated}ume it works by comparing the light from behind (eg headlights) with the ambient light from outside, and dims the mirror accordingly.

At night, away from streetlights, with a car's headlights in my mirror, it fails to work. I have to tilt the mirror by hand to avoid being dazzled.

In daylight, if I put a finger over the rear lens, the mirror dims quite nicely.

Can anyone tell me what is going on ??
