Hello

I am having major issues with my 2002 TDCi Mondeo.

The car has been in Limp mode for the last 4 weeks while trying to resolve the issues, being a keen DIY mechanic I have tried my best to fix but need some help please.

I have purchased an OBD lead and software to run the diagnostics on the car myself. The diagnostics are showing code R2339 - cylinder 4 knock sensor. After reading multiple sites they state that the injectors have lost their programming. which I have re-programmed in the correct sequence.

It was also stated that the knock sensor might be dirty - which I cleaned and re attached. I have checked the best of my ability all of the fuses, wiring and tubing for leaks and abrasions and all appear good.

Also when clearing the fault codes it will not clear the Knock sensor code even if I have not started the car between clearing the codes and re-checking.

Questions :-

Is there a limit to how many times the injectors can be re-coded (I was told this my a mechanic)

Has anyone replaced a faulty knock sensor?

How does the knock sensor state cylinder 4?

Are the heater plugs turned off when in Limp modes - as the car does not like starting in the cold?

Thanks in advance

Andrew

Update

I took the car to a mechanic with a higher spec code reader and it showed a different code, which my code reader did not show. The mechanic erased the code and re-coded the injector and all worked ok.

So be carefull of cheap code reading equipment!!!
