Hi,

I'm new to the forum... so hello to all.

I'm soon planning on getting a MK3 diesel mondeo. Is there any general advice as to which engine or what year is best to go for?

When I purchased my golf, I later found out that I'd bought an early model (one of the first off the production line - before glitches had had chance to be ironed out -such as coilpack issues)... and so I intend doing as much research as possible into the MK3 mondeos before I purchase one - in an attempt to avoid making the same mistake.

I've been looking at the tdci 130. When looking, I've noticed that some are advertised as "tdci 130" and some are advertised as "tdci 130 zetec". Are all the tdci engines zetecs? Or just some of them? And which is better?

Also, I've been trying to come by a website that lists the different specs between LX, Zetec, Zetec-S (there are so many variants) but as of yet I've not come across anything. Any ideas?

if im right and im might not be

the zetecs have a timing belt and the tdci has a timeing chain (no snapping)

aparntly injectors can be a problem, duel mas flywheel ££££, front coil springs have been known to snap.

i have just brought a 2002 tdci and these were the problems i was told to look out for.

its the 130 bhp ghia X (leather, air con, electric drivers seat, cruise controll ect) top spec
