I have a problem, and not too sure what the cure is. While driving, doesn't really matter what speed, randomly the revs can take on a mind of their own, revving upto approx 3000 revs. If i stop the car from moving they drop off, so find it difficult to get under the bonnet to check a few things. I have been told that it is more than likely the road speed sensor. If someone can verify this and guide me to where it is, i will change and see. I have 2.0 GHIA 04 model. Any help would be great.
:D

Hi, I am from Singapore and driving a Ford Mondeo Mk3. I got the same problem too during start up. Most of the time the rpm will drop back to below 1K, but occasionally, it will stay at almost 2K rpm for awhile before going down.

In addition, I got the engine check light ON and upon retrieving the fault code, its gives P0172, which is "System Too Rich (Bank 1)". I also experienced engine knocking when I slow down to stop my car. I think the knocking is quite bad. I have cleaned the EGR valve, changed one of the high tension cable which I suspected was causing the problem, replaced the vaccum hose, still the problem persist.

I hope someone in here can shed some light as to how I can solve this problem of mine. Thanking all the helpful replies in advance. :)
