Hi, according to the Green Flag engineer who attended my breakdown recently, a flashing coil light indicates a fault in the engine management system. Unfortuanately that is the extent of my knowledge on the matter. Hope it helps.

The flashing glow plug light I am told (by Ford) is a problem with the ECU speaking to the Injectors - my car did this 2 years ago and ford re-programmed the system - all OK til a week ago when it haappened again - they have once again re-programmed the system but now tell me if it happens again the car will need 4 new injectors (£250 each) and possibly a new ECU (£700) - I do not believe the car will need 4 new injectors - the odds on all failing at once is unlikely - I am trying to find out more - when I do i will post the answer

hi, the coil light is the engine light, if your car lossed power and then it was ok when you stoped and started then it is probley the cylinder head temp sensor, when it fails or gives a false reading the car goes into failsafe mode because it thinks that the car is overheating, the reason for it being ok when you start it again is because the sensor is ok up until a certin temp and then the resistance brakes down earliet than it should and the car thinks its to hot, it dosnt sound like a fuel system problem as it would be consistant problem, the sensor is on the top right hand side of the head as you look in at the engine behind the power steering pump pully, this it the most obvious cause of this sympton,
