Hi, hope someone here may be able to help. I've litterally just purchased a 2004 TDCI 130 6 speed Zetec this morning. Stupidly, i attempted the 50 mile jouney home on the low remaining diesel as the light wasn't on. The range showed 65 miles and it's moterway 95% of the way so I set the cruise to 70 and made my way.
It wasn't until 3 miles from home that the engine started stuttering and reved very high, smoked quite a bit... then stalled. No lights on the dash appart from low fuel. I managed to limp to a nearby garage, fill the tank and added half a bottle of diesel fuel treatment.
The car then started fine, no obvious smoke and i set off for the remaining 2 mile journey through town. Half way there the the turbo seem to cut out, again no lights, and more smoke evident in the rear view mirror. Once home I stoped then started the engine, which resulted in the normal smooth revs but still plenty of smoke.
I'm really interested to find out if this is simply symptomatic of the dregs in the tank causing tempory problems or if it's something more sinister.
Feel free to mock me... i do realise I've been a muppet and learnt my lesson - hopefully not a very expensive one!
