Can anyone help with the following problem?

Using the remote key (2 button type) the central locking will lock/unlock all doors except the driver's .

Using the same key in the driver's door lock, the central locking will lock/unlock all doors normally.

Is there a direct electrical connection between the in car remote unit and door,which if failed, would prevent the driver's door operating, or is the control purely down to the remote unit telling the central locking unit which doors to operate?

Any info would be appreciated.

probably a sticky solenoid, take off the door panel and give the plunger a spray of wd40 and work it in, job done !!!

Thanks for the input davegeezzer, but I don't think it can be the solenoid in the driver's door, as further checks show that the driver's door will lock/unlock when the key is used in the p{Bad Word: Moderated}enger door.

The more I look into the problem, the more I am convinced that the problem lies either in the remote unit, central locking unit or the wiring between the units in the driver's footwell.

Next time I get my hands on the car (its my brother in laws) I shall try a bit of connector cleaning and powering down/up the remote unit to see if it resets, as I've read that some of these units can suffer as a result static build up.

I'd appreciate any other suggestions.

I have had a problem with central locking on my last two mondeos.
At the moment i own a 1999 1.8 zetec.
I find the problem only happens in the cold, but i noyiced you posted your message in july.
If i use my key in the p{Bad Word: Moderated}enger door, it will only open the p{Bad Word: Moderated}enger door.
When used in the drivers door it opens all doors.
When driving all doors will sudenly lock.
