Hi I have a 1998 2 litre 16 valve Zetec Mondeo Estate. When started from cold, the engine is fine, after a short while, the engine misfires running on 3 Cyls (#3 not working). Also, if I rev it, it cuts in and out at ~ 4000RPM. The Coil pack has been changed as have the plugs and I have a spark and compression. Could it be the ECU or an Injector? If the ECU, could re-setting it curethe prob - I believe that to reset, I need to disconnect the battery for 30 mins then re-connect. Can someone confirm if this is true and what, if anything I need to ensure before disconnecting the battery.
HELP!!
Thanks

if you have not got the engine light on for this problem then then it is most likley not an ignition problem as this would bring the light on, check your fuel pressure it should be 3.6 bar and rev the enging until it splutters and see if the pressure drops, this is a common enough problem on these cars, also taking the battery off will only let you reset the adabtive drive cycle it will not reset a problem with the ecu if the ecu was faulty,

I have a problem with my mondeo mk2. I recently washed the engine and the car has problems staring in the morning. Only on some mornings it gives problems to start which sound like a lack of fuel to the engine. However it isn't. The coil pack doesn't seem to a current supply. But the wierdest thing is it starts in the midday sun.
I really need help !!!
