Hello all,
I have a 1995 Ford Mondeo MK1.

The car has serious pollution problem. It's CO level is more than 10 times than allowed by law. (around 3.7%)
It also consumes too much gas, and its rpm (idle) is always higher than ir should - around 1300 rpm.

It suppose to be a common problem with this car - so maybe one of you knows the reason?

We looked at the oxygen sensor and it OK, also the catalytic converter and it's sensor is OK too.

Please {Bad Word: Moderated}ist.

Thank you very much!
Asaf.

Maybe engine temperature sensor-the car could be thinking its always cold so never engaging the closed loop fuelling control, this would also explain the high idle

Hi, a common problem is a small rubber t-piece
it sits on the right hand side of the engine when you look at the car from the front
it pushes onto the block/head and 2 other pipe push into it
you wont be able to see it so you may have to put your hand down and feel for it
these perish quite easily and are only a few quid from the dealer
worth checking/changing for the price

and as said previous, engine temp sensor is sometimes at fault

good cars but a bugger to fault find

also, idle sensor on throttle body may be clogged or need replacing
