Hi,
I was wondering if anyone out there has a solution to the discoloured bumpers that the Ka seems to have a problem with.
My Ka has the black bumpers that have gone a horrible greyish colour, I have seen quite a few around that seem to have the same problem.
Maybe someone has an idea on how to restore them, I have tried lots of products but no success so far.

Hi, I have just joined so this is a bit late, however, we have just acquired an 03 Black Ka and noticed the same old greyish bumpers, I had a bottle of, "Autoglym, Vinyl & Rubber Care", 500 ml. the bumpers darken to nearly black, it's amazing. Hope this helps, if you still have the Ka.

if all else fails, carefully mask off around the bumper and spray it with satin (not matt) black. when it's really dry and hardened (leave at least 2 days) go over it with Back to black or similar. It's a bit of a pain, but you will have BLACK bumpers.

Kit to restore black bumper colour:
- All prices are from Halfords - you may well get cheaper elsewhere
1 - Flexible primer (Plastic Primer) 2x400 ml spray cans for the whole bumper
2 - satin black - 2 x 500 ml cans for the whole bumper £6
3 - 1 x 250 ml bottle of Back to black £5
4 - Masking tape and some old newspaper.
400 grit & 800 grit wet & dry paper and a cork or rubber sanding block
N.B. Hand sand bumpers DO NOT use a power sander unless you're very confident, it's so easy to leave nicks & flat spots with one.

A spray trigger for aerosol cans is also very useful (about £3 from Halfords)
first clean the bumper with soapy water and rinse well & dry.
then lightly go over the whole bumper with the 400 grit paper (wet), then wash & dry the bumper.
now mask off all round the bumper, taking the paper up the sides of the car and up the tailgate so there is NO chance of overspray.
spray the bumper with flexible primer, and allow to dry completely between coats (Two or more light coats to get a good coverage).
now LIGHTLY sand with 800 wet& dry - dry to get a really smooth surface - this is to get rid of any loose overspray on the bumper - you can feel it, and feel when it's gone. now wipe over with a damp cloth and dry the bumper.
finally spray 2 or more light coats of satin black, and when it's really dry (Leave a couple of days) polish with the back to black.

You'll need a good clear afternoon to do this, it takes longer than you'd think.
Please don't try to rush, take your time and do a good job.
