Hi all,
i have a 2005 focus 1.6 sport petrol,it has started missfiring recently so i had a look the other day and where the top of the spark plugs come out of the block and connect with the HT leads it is full of water!! i sucked all of the water out and got a hair dryer in there to get the last few drops but it came back but nowhere near as much, so i have dried it out again. i don't think it's coming from the engine itself as the water levels are fine and have never needed topping up. Had a look again today and it has stayed dry this time so i have changed the plugs and leads and it is driving fine now. I realise this is only a short term fix and was hoping anybody might have any ideas what may be causing this? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers.

I have the same problem on a Ghia 16oo with only 26000 miles on the clock. I am told it is due to a porous cylinder head. The problem is gradualy getting worse ... the plugs need drying every 50 miles.

Hi, i'm a new member but have come across this problem. I think you'll find that the problem occurs after a wash or wet weather, water is getting over the seal just above the plugs.it's fitted to a plastic scuttle and if you check with the bonnet closed you'll find that there is a gap and water flows over the top and down onto the plug leads. It would seem to require the scuttle lifting or something to deflect the water down the back of the engine.
Hope this helps.
Cheers
