Post subject: very loud tapping and wont start.

iv got a ford focus 2ltr, x reg. it was driving ok then just died down on me as if id turned the key off.
wouldnt start back up so we got an diagnostics bloke out and he said all the electrics was ok just somthing coming up on the starter motor, he said try bumping it and if it starts then its that.
when we tried bumping it there was a very loud tapping coming from the engine.

sorry yes the car will turn over as normal with no noise but will not start
