My 2001 Focus 1.8 3 door has started to intermitantly lock whilst driving in the car. You can go 2 to 3 days before it happens again. The other day I got out of the car at work and the central locking locked with the car running! Unable to get in I had to phone the wife to bring the spare key for me to get back in. The batterys in the key fob are still the original from when the car was bought new.Has anyone any ideas what the problem could be?

Hi, dont know if this will apply to fords, but in my golf i had this problem, it turned out to be the actual central locking pump and electronic unit, water had go into it and caused a short, making the central locking to work intermitantly, just an idea though.

what year is your truck? on the 91-4, there are about 13 (if I remember correctly) push-in holds that require an amount of "brute force" to remove. Start by taking off the trim inside the door handle, and popping out the electric window and door lock control panel at the bottom w/ a screw driver. Then pull the trim from the bottom of the door straight out. The catches should pop one by one. They are reusable, but they are also cheap to replace at the dealership. At the top of the door, the trim unit slides up and out when all of the catches are off. Be careful to feed the window, door controls through the hole be for removing.
