First of all i'd like to say hi this is my first post. Hello!

I recently brought a Yreg (2001) focus estate 1.6 zetec.

I had a bit of a smash about a Two month ago and it had to go to the body shop for a new Bonnet, head lights, air guides ect.. The bumper was ok, i think where i was breaking so hard the nose dipped down and went under the car i hit.

when i got it back from the body shop the oil light flickered on then off.. so i checked the oil and there was none in there.. scary!

so i filled up with 4.5litres this was slightly too much .. whoops. have since done roughly 500 miles over 5 weeks, then went home to visit my family and before i left i checked the oil and it had dropped so i added another 1/2 litre.. another 300miles later and it has dropped again.

All this is an estimate and i will start to keep better records of miles vs consumption.

But i'm a bit concered as to what may be wrong? I'm not getting and white smoke, no power loss, no unusual noises.

I have been reading up and seems it could be the oil control rings or Valve stem seals.. or is it just normal?

What sort of oil consumption is normal for a 10year focus with 98k on the clock?

Cheers

Gregg
