What's the main differences between the current Ford Focus and the New 2008 Ford Focus, just seen the advert on the TV and it looks almost the same?

There are hundreds of refinements the car itself is much much better, however its just such a shame they didnt change to look more against the 05 model.

Basically its the fundamentals that are the same which is what kept the focus such a hot seller. Its much cleaner look but not that much different from a distance but when you get two site by site you can spot them. Heavily updated interior and sheet metal changes to every pannel except the roof.

New multi-link rear suspension. making it more comfortable and smoth to drive, feels more like the new mondeo, also looks a bit more smaxey on the insides with more chrome styling and cleaner lines. Molding seems on the vents and a mondeo style power button. Makes it feel like a completely different motor, despite just a facelift.

If I was Ford I would have gone the whole hog and made the outsite look distinctively different, but its a great car and looks great so why change it?

Think I'll have to have a test drive and see what the crack is, I drive a Focus at the minute so it will be interesting to see how much better the new one is? Have you had a drive of one yet?

Had the 52 model, currently got the 2005 model and test driven the new 2008 model...........outcome!!! my new 2008 model is on order .....although not the major changes which I was expecting there is just something about the 2008 model which "feels right" with updated body panels and a lighter sporty looking interior. The test drive (1.8 deisel) was better than I had hoped with a feeling that the car just wanted to be driven with a bit of venom with a ride and roadholding the made me feel safe inside the cabin.......deliver it quick please

excellent mate, glad to hear that you have ordered one. Ford normally get it right with the driving dynamics, I would have personally liked something a bit more adventurous with the design. I'm married to Ford anyway so I think I'll end up replacing my Focus with the 2008 model when mine is due in 9 months.

As stated previously under ID sgtpepper ( lost log-in details so re-registered), new car on order since test drive........Well now I've got it and since I took delivery on 19th April I have been like a kid at Christmas and i am 55. I ordered at 1.8 Zetec deisel with bluetooth, reversing sensors and global windows which gave me just about the same spec as my 2005 4 door ghia............what a pleasure to drive this car is. it has totally surpassed my expectations and if you are considering changing then don't hesitate, and with rising fuel costs I am well pleased I decided to go deisel (my 1st deisel), although it is about 10p a litre dearer it is a lot cheaper in the long run, I am averaging 550 miles to the tank and its not run in yet..........

excellent mate, sounds like you have got a cracker. I personally like the oil burners, doing 20,000 miles a year it kinda helps me out having a diesel car. Bluetooth is the future too, especially with the old bill clamping down on the phone use in the car for us drivers, and the Zetec model Focus is the best of both worlds, bit sporty but with plenty of refinements too! Not like the old Fords where you had to specify if you wanted comfort or sport features!
