I also purchased a new Fiesta a few weeks ago and was horrified that the first service is 12 months or 14000 miles and no running in period.
I have had no probs with the gearbox but did have two problems, one with the time the car took to heat up the heater 30 to 40 mins.
Secondly the fuel consumption was absolute rubbish.
Now to the wonders of modern technology.
I took it to the main dealers and they reloaded the latest software into the cars computer it took all of 15 minutes. The difference was that the very next day the heater took only 10 mins to start to blow warm and the fuel economy improved by 50 % over the following weeks. Now what I would say that this is admirable but does prove that the suppliing dealer did a rubbish PDI check.
