I have just bought a 2006 Fiesta with 26000 on the clock and the durashift gear box. According to the manual it is supposed to"creep" when a gear is selected and it doesn't. Yesterday I started the engine, selected reverse, the car wouldn't move and the gear selection display was flashing on the dash panel.
There is a lot of travel on the handbrake and I'm wondering whether to adjust the cable or to adjust the drums up, although they're supposed to self adjust, first and then the cable. Any advice much appreciated.

Are you sure that you had the footbrake engaged. Reverse gear cannot be selected without the footbrake on.

I had tonnes of problems with the gearbox on my fiesta LX, I went to a few different garages that never really fixed anything, but I took it into a garage last month in Surrey and touch wood I've had no problems since. u may have concern with shift solonoids they tend to seize wen they do they spike the transmission module advise get solonods checked quickly
