I have a Fiesta Titanium 58 which developed vibration though the steering. On investigation by Ford.... 3 buckled wheels that they put down to road conditions! Aprox bill of £600 to sort it. I have never experienced a buckled wheel on a car ever.

I have a ford fiesta titnanium registered in September 2009.
10 days after purchase when travelling along a Devon country road at 20 mph I hit a pot hole. This buckled a wheel which cost £161 to replace. As it was a new car I was taking great care but because the sun was in my eyes I did not see the pothole. I put this down to bad luck. A few months later I experienced shaking of the steering wheel at certain speeds and so got the front wheels balanced. I was told by the garage that the inner rim was damaged on one of the wheels but they were able to balance it and all was well for a while. About a month later I travelled up to the Lake District and the styeering wheel began to shake again. I called into the Ford garage at Kendal and they swapped the front wheels for the back and things improved. However it was not long until the shake returned. On Thursday I had my car serviced and asked for the wheels to be balanced again. The garage said three of my wheels were buckled and couldnt be balanced. I phoned Ford and they said there was no warranty on the wheels, no manufacturing fault and therefore no help from them! No one else had copmplained either!! To replace with the same wheels will not solve the problem for long will it? To replace with normal profile wheels will require a re-programming of the car and cost in excess of £1,000. Surely these alloys are not fit for purpose! Do I haave to change make and model of car to solve the problkem? Come on Ford, have a care for a good customer who has driven Fords for over 20 years and until now was a very happy Ford car owner!! How do I contact Watchdog??

I have just had my 2000 Reg Focus Estate MOTd and had an advisory notice pertaining to the fact that one of my alloys was beginning to show signs of becoming misshapen. Acceptable I thought, considering the age of the car and that this is the first instance I've had of this nature. Interestingly enough, however, my brother had his '05 Fiesta MOTd just before mine and had to have three of his alloys replaced. The garage (local, very friendly and reliable) said that they are aware of Ford's alloys being very susceptible to this - it would indeed seem that they are unfit for purpose!

Further to my earlier post I have now written to: Andy Barratt , Customer Service Director , Ford Motor Co Ltd , PO Box 10726 , Brentwood , CM14 9HE by registered post asking for his help and for Ford to bear the cost of replacement wheels. I await his reply. I am driving around with 3 buckled wheels and am beginning to wonder whethere it is safe to do so? I wondered whether a joint approach might help. If you are interested please email me at revrog@gmail.com.

I have a Ford Fiesta Zetec purchased in March- same problem has occured after bad vibrations having taken car to balance wheels I am told front p{Bad Word: Moderated}enger side is buckled due to me probably going down a pot hole and ford refuse to contribute thus costing me £155 for a new wheel- had a peugot for 3 years and went down many potholes but never had this problem. Am thinking of contacting watchdog!

I received a phone call from Ford in reply to my letter. I protested that I wanted something in writing from them. They refused saying that their policy is to phone these days as it is much more personal. BUT I said that means I have nothing!! I was furious to be treated in this way, but what can one do against a giant. I have been in touch with Watchdog but have had no response.

After my service last year Ford told me I had 2 slightly buckled wheels on my 09 Fiesta, said they would only need replacing if it was causing real noticable vibrations thourhg the steering wheel and uneven tyre wear so I left them, a trip to another garage today to have the brake pads replaced (after only 22k miles which I am also not too please about as I am sure they should last a little longer than that) I have been told that I now al 4 buckled wheels, they can repair but its not worth it and I would be better off buying a new aftermarket set of wheels, he advised me to write to Ford as he has seen a few Fiesta's with the same issues, obviously the wheels aren't fit for purpose and we the customers should not be footing the bill for Ford shoddy wheels, we've had potholes in this country for years so why is it that cars being built in this day and age can't cope with them, just not good enough. I am angry and intend to complain to as many people within Ford as I can, might not get far but it will make me feel a whole lot better :D

ok as I have just recently perchased a Fiesta I'm a little concerned by this as I have owned Fords in the past but never encountered alloy problems. It seems the majority of cases are with the new Fiesta or has this promlem been going on for a while. Ok my car is 10 yrs old, but I hope this isn't one of the issues I have to look forward too :(
