Hi everyone, I'm new to the forum and wonder if anyone could offer me any advise. I have a 51 plate fiesta freestyle after swapping it with my 1.1 peugeot 206. This car has done around 61.500 miles I've had it 6 weeks and do about 160 miles per week, urban driving, 10 mile runs at a time. In the 206 I was getting about 100 miles for about £12, in this fiesta its costing me £28.00 to do 160, I know the engine is slightly larger but still seems to be using a hell of alot of petrol.
This is the information I have for example from sources on the net mpg of this car is about 40.9 mpg? So saying that if I put 3 gallons in for £15.00 I should be able to do about 130 miles? Please correct me any step of the way if I've gone wrong maths and cars are not my strongest points.
Can anyone suggest any possbile reasons why the car is using so much petrol? I really like the car but cannot afford to run is as the petrol consumption is almost double that of my previous car when suggested mpg should be about the same.
There is a slight squealing sound, I {Bad Word: Moderated}ume thats coming from the fan belt...before I spend even more money I can't afford having it checked out could anyone shed any light on the matter please, it would be very very much appreciated.
